Light-a-Hope: A Brighter Tomorrow for the Moraca Family

Norala, July 11, 2023 – The Light a Hope program, a tripartite partnership between SOCOTECO-I, SOCOTECO-I Foundation, Inc. (S1FI), and ABOITIZ Foundation, Inc., reached a significant milestone, filling the hearts of the Moraca family and the surrounding community with hope. Yesterday, a heartwarming ceremonial switch-on event illuminated their lives, symbolizing a brighter future.

The Moraca family, comprising eight (8) members, was one of the eighteen (18) fortunate recipients of the first batch of this life-changing mission. In addition to the installation of free electrical housewiring, they received essential provisions, including donated food packs, two sacks of rice, and medicines. Representatives from SOCOTECO-I Management and Board of Directors, SOCOTECO-I Foundation, Inc., and ABOITIZ Foundation, Inc., graced the ceremony.

During the event, Engr. Raffee Edsel B. Epistola, General Manager of SOCOTECO-I, expressed his commitment to providing more than just electrical services. He emphasized the cooperative and foundation’s determination to contribute to providing a decent home for the family, ensuring a brighter future for them.

Dir. Hilarion G. Octaviano, Board President of SOCOTECO-I, delivered a message, acknowledging the significance of community partnerships in fostering positive change. He praised the collaborative efforts of all organizations involved in the Light-a-Hope program, emphasizing the transformative impact such initiatives have on individuals and the community in general.

Engr. Michael N. Marcella, S1FI, BOT Chairman, addressed the vital role of electricity in creating equal opportunities, particularly for children in their educational pursuits. Recognizing the impact of electricity on the educational landscape, he emphasized the importance of empowering young minds through access to technology and lighting the path to a better future.

Mr. Daryll Jone Gacus, Regulated Sales Commercial Operation, Business Unit, ABOITIZ, expressed his company’s commitment to the cause, mentioning the possibility of increasing the budget to expand the program’s reach. This announcement brought renewed hope and enthusiasm among the attendees, further reinforcing the dedication of ABOITIZ Foundation, Inc. in making a lasting difference in the lives of underprivileged communities.

In her closing remarks, Dir. Sharon Fermalino of Norala District assured the community that S1FI and SOCOTECO-I would continue to be responsive to the needs of member-consumer-owners (MCOs).
