SOCOTECO-1 officially dedicates to the member-consumers the Member-Consumer- Owner (MCO) Center on April 7, 2017 at the SOCOTECO-1 Main Office, Brgy. Morales, City of Koronadal. The ceremonial dedication was graced by the Administrator Edgar R. Masongsong of the National Electrification Administrator (NEA) and dignitaries from the local government units. In attendance were the members of the Mutli-sectoral Electrification Advisory Council (MSEAC) comprised by 11 Districts and BAPA representatives under the franchise area of the cooperative.
The construction of the MCO Center was drawn from the allocated 4 million line item budgeting of the congress under the leadership of then 1 Care Partylist Rep. Masongsong in 2014. This was part of his promise to assist electric cooperatives in providing quality service during his stint as representative of 1 CARE Partylist. During his term he was able to accommodate sixty (60) projects amounting to a total of 134.5Million for structures situated inside the electric cooperatives nationwide.
Admin. Masongsong urged the MCOs of SOCOTECO-1 to support the National Government’s agenda for electrification that includes access to electricity for all, power availability, power reliability, system efficiency particularly lower system loss, cheap power cost. These shall be facilitated in partnership with the Department of Energy (DOE), NEA and the electric cooperatives. Further, he invited SOCOTECO-1 management, board and member-consumers to join the National Center of Electric Cooperative Consumers, Inc. (NCECCO) on its 1st National Summit of Electric Cooperative Consumers on April 26, 2017 at the Auditorium, Tagum City, Davao del Norte. The NCECCO, is a national movement of electricity consumers that joins members, consumers and stakeholders from all Electric Cooperatives (ECs) nationwide to address urgent and strategic issues confronting the electricity consumers.
In his message, Admin. Masongsong stated, “Congratulations SOCOTECO-1 for excellently performing as Electric Cooperative and for maintaining Triple A award.” SOCOTECO-1 has been an awardee of the Triple A (AAA) award or the highest recognition given by the National Electrification Administration (NEA) since 2012.
