Coop adheres to FWP, conducts 1st Summer Clinic

As a cooperative who values the people behind its accomplishments, SOCOTECO-I aims to provide its personnel the opportunity to holistic growth.. Part of this endeavor is the inclusion of activities that strengthens family ties and cooperation.

In 2016, the cooperative sent staff to the orientation of the Department of Labor and Employment Region XII on the Family Welfare Program (FWP) that the national government wishes to promote in various organizations. The FWP seeks to introduce the concept of promoting the welfare of the workers and their families as a key to workplace productivity and improved worker-management relations. It is an advocacy program that draws corporate support in promoting workers’ quality of life by adopting a family-centered approach in the workplace.

The FWP advocates for the integration of the 10 dimensions of the program, namely: Reproductive Health and Responsible Parenthood, Education/Gender Equality, Spirituality or Value Formation, Income Generation/Livelihood/Cooperative, Medical Health Care, Nutrition, Environment Protection, Hygiene and Sanitation, Sports and Leisure, Housing, and Transportation.

This year, the Institutional Services Department began initiating activities that support the aims of FWP.. The Value Formation Training for personnel, introduction of Gender Equality and the first Summer Clinic for the employees’ children were organized as starter initiatives

The 2-week summer clinic on May 15-26, 2017  Encouraged children of employees as young as 2 years old up to 12 years old to join dance classes and badminton tutorial. On May 30, 2017, a culmination was held where children showed their dancing prowess while those who enrolled in badminton tutorial enjoyed their friendship match.

SOCOTECO-I has taken the first leap in drawing a family-oriented and children-friendly environment in the workplace. To make workers happier and more productive, the FWP helps promote healthier employee-employer relationship and boost workers’ morale. This is just the beginning.
