SOCOTECO-1 celebrates with the Supreme Power Corporations (SPC) for the successful partnership and construction of the 11.9MW Bunker C-fired Power Plant and ground breaking ceremony of the 7.2MW Hydro Power Plant at Purok Garfin, Brgy. Paraiso, City of Koronadal on March 31, 2017. The celebration highlights the blessing of the bunker C-fired power plant likewise, recognizing its significance in ensuring zero rotational/curtailment this year and the introduction of the upcoming construction of an additional 7.2 MW hydro power to be constructed in Brgy. Lamfugon, Lake Sebu.

As an effort to insulate SOCOTECO-1 from any supply deficiencies such as curtailment and plant outages in the Mindanao Grid, the Management and the Board of Directors decided to enter into contract with SPC for an embedded power plant. It was back in 2014 when the cooperative granted SPC with its proposal for a construction of an 11.9 MW Bunker C-Fired Diesel Power Plant. Following this is the approval of the local government and the public granted thru series of review and public consultations lead by the Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC). Another milestone in the future will progress as a renewable power plant in the form of hydro will begin under the same company.

“Thank you for aggressively investing billions of pesos in South Cotabato, I know it’s a risk but thank you and for the 1 billion coming for the 7.2 MW Hydro Power Plant Plant”, stated by the General Manager Santiago C. Tudio to the SPC. The partnership will fuel the growing economy in the South as it will ensure continuous and reliable supply of power.
