The first solar power plant in South Cotabato

Changes in the power industry continue to unfold. Despite the advance technology invading every aspect of our lives, not all our needs are met. We still experience shortage of electricity supply. The demand is high and our goal is 24/7 power supply for every household of SOCOTECO-1 service area. No exception. Our target – till the furthest barangays and sitios energized and lighted. As what President Aquino said as I quote, “the light we hope to bring will power our communities to develop their trades and transform into hubs of business, education and culture.”

We take the challenge. We take risk in the name of quality and efficient service to uplift people’s lives in our service area.

In line with our commitment and with the support of the local government of South Cotabato, SOCOTECO-1 has already its additional power supply generated by the first solar power plant in South Cotabato.

The Solar Project by nv vogt Philippines Solar Energy One Inc. is now commercially on stream providing an additional of up to 5 Megawatt (MW) for the entire coverage area. We are saved from the hourly rotational brownout/curtailment thru this additional power supply while other neighboring Electric Cooperatives suffer from hourly brownout/curtailment.

In August 12, 2015, the firm held its solar power plant ground breaking ceremony or the installation of some 23,000 ground-mounted solar panels at the eight-hectare farm in Barangay Centrala, Surallah. This time, yours truly together with my fellow Board of Directors, GM Santiago C. Tudio and Staff members, invite you to the formal opening scheduled on January 23, 2016 as his Excellency President Benigno S. Aquino III himself will grace the occasion. We also encourage the attendance of our key partners the local government units and stakeholders within the Province of South Cotabato to be part of this milestone.

Lastly, on behalf of all the members of the Board, Management, Staff and Employees, I would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to all our member-consumers, BAPA officials, newly elected Board of Directors, local government officials and guests who attended and contributed to the success of our 37th Annual General Membership Assembly last 29th August 2015. You are behind our success! THANK YOU for your continued help and support. Together, let us transform lives for the better.

I hope to bring you more updates till our next issue. Kasanag SOCOTECO-1.
