How time flies! SOCOTECO-1 is 44! So many years have passed and the cooperative is ever triumphant in all its undertaking, making it a consistent triple A (AAA) category coop, the highest of all categorization for ECs.
On August 31, 2015, SOCOTECO-1 celebrated its 44th Foundation Anniversary with the theme “CONVERGENCE: RETRO GROOVES MEET HIPHOP MOVES.” This was conceptualized as the cooperative currently have a combination of Baby Boomers, and Generations X and Y as employees. But prior the “convergence” of these employees through a dance showdown, the cooperative had equally major and important events during the anniversary.
As a kick-off, the cooperative celebrated a Thanksgiving Mass followed by the Blessing and Inauguration of our newly purchased maintenance vehicles, the Coop Canteen and 1-CARE project SOCOTECO-1 Multi-purpose Gymnasium. The event was graced by no other than 1-CARE Representative Edgardo R. Masongsong and other local officials which signify the solid support of the government towards the cause of electric cooperatives, and for this matter, SOCOTECO-1.
In his message, Cong. Masongsong stressed the importance of electric cooperatives in propelling change and progress in the country. He added that with 1-CARE as the coop’s counterpart in the legislative department, he urged each employee to continue the support to the association for a bigger voice in the legislation so that the aspirations of each electric cooperative as regards the power industry can be realized.
After which, all were treated to a sumptuous dinner as a live band plays along. Then, the dance competition featuring the famous retro of the 70s and 80s and the pumping Hip Hop stunts of the 90s were showcased. A wise and fun switch of the genres was also done – Baby Boomers doing the electrifying Hiphop dance and generations X and Y stinting the colourful retro.
It was a fun-filled and exciting evening for everyone since all participated in the activity. Heads of each department busted the moves in the dance floor inspiring their subordinates to do the same. Vibrant colors of the retro and bling-y get-ups of the hiphop ruled the night.
In his message during the anniversary night, GM Santiago C. Tudio pointed out that he was able to witness the forty (40) years of the cooperative – how it started its humble beginnings and how it reached and maintained its best service. He also said that the present generation of coop employees are more aggressive and daring in their work towards service excellence. He then reiterated the support of the management and the Board of Directors towards the cause of the employees as they channel policies towards additional employee benefits and privileges.
The memorable event ended with a dance party of the employees, retirees, visitors and guests. It was a grace-filled and fun-tastic show for everyone in attendance.
