The South Cotabato I Electric Cooperative, Inc. (SOCOTECO-1) conducted a Power Forum: Present Power Situation at the 4th Floor, Activity Area of KCC Mall of Marbel, City of Koronadal on 23 February 2016, 1:30PM. This aims to inform and educate stakeholders of the current power situation and the issues that confront the distribution of power.
A detailed presentation of the power supply situation was given by Engr. Michael N. Marcella, Technical Services Department Manager. Questions and clarifications during the open forum were answered by Mr. Santiago C. Tudio, General Manager and Director Henry M. Salmeo, Board President. The issues raised were about the ongoing implementation of curtailment or rotational brownout, causes, impact and cooperative’s efforts to address this experience. Stakeholders had ample time to throw questions relevant to power distribution.
SOCOTECO-1 has been experiencing power curtailment since February 2016. This has been brought about by the persisting EL NIÑO Phenomenon and the transmission line constraint resulting in the isolation of (2) two Hydro Electric Power Plants, the Agus 1 and 2. The continuing effort of the Management and the Board to improve its services is one of the reasons for holding the power forum.
