The South kicks off for Member Consumer Owners Program for Empowerment Program

Member Electric Cooperatives (ECs) of CEMRECA and SEMECA (Regions 11 and 12) participated in a meeting and dialogue on Member Consumer Owners Program for Empowerment (MCOPE) in Tagum City to brainstorm how the program will be carried out to ensure seamless implementation and ensure sustainability of program.
As the Philippine government envisions total rural electrification, electric cooperatives through the supervision of the National Electrification Administration are keen on promoting programs that is directed towards achieving sustainable social and economic development in the rural areas through Rural Electrification (RE). For the year 2020, ECs are taking strides in empowering its Member Consumer Owners to be involved with the RE Programs through Member-Consumer-Owners Program for Empowerment (MCOPE).

For SOCOTECO-I, the empowerment program had begun in 2018 reaching out to a total of 172 barangays. It may seem quite a long way to go, but for the cooperative, taking small steps mean community organizing is certainly underway.
