BAPA Kematu at its 15th year of being in service

BAPA Kematu has shown to have withstood the test of time of becoming a strengthened Barangay Power Association fairly governed by its member-consumers since its inception in 2000. The Association had no sweet start as it actually experienced the birth pains of community organizing and capacity building of members and had also gone thru disconnections because of mishandling of finances during its early start. Today, BAPA Kematu marks its 15th year of being an independent and empowered BAPA.

Highlighting this year’s accomplishment, the assembly decided to take aggressive response on the issue of inaccurate kWh consumption and/or reading in partnership with SOCOTECO-1 Special Project team, barangay officials and barangay electricians. Planning begun during AGMA on 19 August and the actual conduct on September 3, 2015, which is less than a month after it was decided upon by the majority of the members.

A total of 241 kWh Meters and 2 Mother Meters were inspected, a total of 11 blurred meters were replaced and a total of 3 service dropwire loose connections were restored. Generally, the activity aims to ensure reliability in the delivery of power more so to ensure safety of every home.

Indeed, the success of the activity shows the importance of strong partnership among the BAPA, SOCOTECO-1 team, local officials and SOCOTECO-1 team, local officials and the accredited barangay electricians. BAPA Kematu is proud to have developed awareness and gained concern for service evident with their reports and meetings conducted where almost everyone has their voice and counterparts. The association believes that working with partners as a team multiplies accomplishments.

SOCOTECO-1 is honoured to have BAPA Kematu as one of the partners in bringing power to far-flung areas. We salute you as you have indeed learned the ropes to strengthen and empower your association.
